Paul Leonard
Paul is an independent advisor and Non-Executive Director working at the seam between capital-intensive energy projects, clean fuels and AI-enabled SaaS. His career spans oil & gas, concentrated solar, nuclear early-stage strategy, utility-scale renewables and BESS, and now sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable methanol — alongside active advisory and board roles with AI-enabled software businesses serving those same sectors. The common thread is operator DNA: knowing how multi-billion-pound programmes actually get delivered, and how modern AI-enabled tools can accelerate decisions, build on live data, and turn information into execution at pace.
Currently he is engaged with Nova Sustainable Fuels on the development of a Renewable Energy Park on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore — a fully integrated clean fuels platform combining onshore wind, solar and biomass to produce SAF and renewable methanol for hard-to-abate aviation and marine transport. Before that he was Divisional Director leading strategic EPC delivery of a £150m solar PV and BESS portfolio across the UK and Europe, and Commercial Director for multi-billion-pound nuclear early-stage programmes. Earlier chapters include $1bn+ upstream projects across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Caspian region; concentrated solar in Oman; and supply chain leadership across four continents. Across the same period he has advised AI-enabled SaaS founders on product-market fit, operating model and board readiness in safety-critical and asset-heavy industries — translating what works on site into software that boards, sponsors and operators actually trust.
He holds a BA (Hons) in Law & Management from Robert Gordon University, specialising in contract law, commercial law, company law and business management — a governance foundation that sits underneath everything LNRD does.
